David's approach cuts through the jargon and pie-in-the-sky methodology of some trading strategies, to focus on robust, practical techniques that can be put into practice straight away. This is not really what the title make the buyers think about the book. It is, general introduction to the Forex market. Great educational book for me as a beginner. Explains it better because is written by someone who is clear and who sets out to educate you rather than passing on a traders I enjoyed this book and it was very easy to read and understand the thoughts and teachings being put across.

Yes it is true this book may appear to be for the beginners, but David Jones doesn't want to over complicate the simple concepts of trading and I could not agree with him A good introduction into spread betting, focusing more on risk management with a few strategies to get u started. One has to question why this book is on sale. Fifteen pages in and barely enough text to fill one page.

Top Customer Reviews 3. Here is my take of the good, bad and ugly of Spread Betting the Forex Markets. A good coverage of general forex knowledge and theory required to trade, delivered with a clear writing style. His section on the crucially important subject of risk management is very good with an easy to follow simplification of what can be a complex area.

David's non trading background is reflected in the lightweight section on Trading Strategies which is very much at beginner level: That said, as the author explains, many people do like to make this area more complicated than required for effective trading. There is no section on trading psychology. No bibliography or further reading to point the interested reader in the right direction if they wish to read further on any subject area.

A questionable style of trade entry which involves waiting for price retracement if the initial risk reward ratio is not acceptable. Remember that all trades which are destined to fail will retrace to an acceptable R: R ratio so using this method will doubtless increase the percentage of losing trades so you'd better have a high R: R ratio to account for this.

The section on overnight rollover financing of positions is fundamentally flawed which is surprising as David is an educator and should have nailed this subject with ease. The author explains that overnight financing is based on the interest rate of the currency in which you are long plus an overnight financing charge.

This book is written in a very clear way, using good examples to make the key points come alive for the reader. It is easy to read and to grasp the messages and I was able to use something that I learned straight away to good effect. For me, the key benefits of this book are: I recommend this book to anyone who has not traded forex before and anyone who has traded but is not happy with the results they are achieving.

If the latter group of people approach this book with an open mind they will, I am sure, get insight into how they can improve their performance. If their minds are not open then that could be the real problem. Paperback For people new to trading it can be a daunting process trying out ideas as to what make's a successful trade. It can seem a lonely occupation examining charts and deciding which analytic is either your best friend or your worst enemy.

Confidence is all-important; balancing the extremes of a gung-ho approach against unfounded self-doubt, is a task that requires an empirical mind and plenty of courage. The author guides the reader through the mechanics of spread betting and clearly explains Forex to those unfamiliar with this truly vast ocean of money cascading around the markets each and every day.

But David takes a common sense attitude to it all, keeping the trading method simple and above all not being greedy.

By using a defined set of rules and carefully managing the kitty, the process becomes calmer and less frenetic. He teaches the willing learner by trading in a sensible manner you'll make money and live to trade another day. Paperback This is an excellent book on Forex trading.

Many authors have covered trading and in specific Forex trading. The difference here is that Mr. Jones drawing on his experiences treats the subject in an extreme simple way. This is exactly how Forex trading needs to be treated or else making profit in these markets would remain only a dream for majority of traders.

To be successful in Forex markets, one needs simple techniques, money management and the ability to see the least resistant path to the price at any given time. The author is well aware of all that, does not claim to know where the price will go next, yet shows how one can play this game successfuly.
